What are thread veins (Vascular lesions)?
These can be present from birth or develop with age or occur as the result of sun damage. They occur when the small capillaries in the skin become dilated and can give the appearance of red spots, or sometimes large stains, such as port wine stains. They can also spread out like thread veins or spider veins.
What is pigmentation (Pigmented lesions)?
These are extremely common and most often caused by the sun. They include freckles, age spots and liver spots and normally contain high concentrations melanin(pigment). Hormonal factors, injury and ageing can also cause abnormal pigmented lesions.
